American Girl

I am a child of the 1980s and 1990s, so, quite naturally, I was and still am a HUGE fan of the American Girl series! I’ll never forget having the chance to attend an American Girl fashion show, which was held during a themed tea party in Nashville – it was absolutely surreal! My first doll – and all-time favorite girl – Felicity – was also invited to the tea party/fashion show!

Long before the American Girl Store existed, I loved circling dolls and accessories I desired from the American Girl catalogs, which I received regularly in the mail. Also, I definitely subscribed to the American Girl Magazine; I seriously wish I had saved them all!

I had a pen pal through the magazine’s snail mail program. We wrote each other almost weekly – I still have tons of letters she wrote to me! We are also friends on Facebook, which is pretty cool, considering we first ‘met’ in the mid 1990s!

In my day, the original American Girls were in production – Felicity, Kirsten, Addy, Samantha, and Molly reigned supreme. Not to brag, but I have all five of the original dolls and books – I cherish them still.

Although the original five girls are the characters with whom I’m familiar, I’d love to read the newer additions, if possible. The girls new to me are Kaya, Caroline, Josefina, Marie-Grace and Cecile, Rebecca, Kit, Nanea, Maryellen, Melody, and Julie.
